The East Central Community College men’s basketball team could not hold on to a steady lead in the fourth quarter and fell 75-64 against Northeast Mississippi Community College Thursday, Dec. 8, in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium in Decatur.

The game was high-intensity throughout the evening with the Warriors leading by eight at the intermission, before the Tigers pulled away for the win in the final minutes of the contest.

The Warriors had three players in double-digit scoring. Cayman “C.J.” Ruffin of Neshoba Central led ECCC scorers with 14 points. Tonzell Handy of Lanier High School added 12 points and Cameron Diggs of Blount (Ala.) High School had 11 points.

ECCC dropped to 4-4 on the season.

East Central will travel to Shelton State Community College Monday, Dec. 12, to face the Buccaneers in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Both the men’s and women’s teams resume play January 10 at East Mississippi Community College in Scooba.
