The East Central Community College men’s basketball team defeated Pearl River Community College 83-56 in Poplarville Monday, Jan. 23.
The Warriors moved to 8-6 on the season and 3-2 in the MACJC South Division.
ECCC went on top in the first quarter and never relinquished the lead. East Central was up 46-29 at the half and led by as many as 31 in the second half.
ECCC freshman Jaquan Dotson of Neshoba Central High School led all scorers with a career-high 24 points against the Wildcats. Sophomore Tonzell Handy of Lanier High School added 11 points and pulled down six rebounds.
The Warriors were 9 for 10 at the free throw line for the contest.
East Central will host No. 12 nationally ranked Jones County Junior College Bobcats Thursday, Jan. 26, at 7:30 p.m. in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium in Decatur.
