East Central Community College recently opened a much-needed ADA-accessible ramp to Huff Auditorium which makes the widely used facility more accessible for all individuals attending events and also makes it more convenient to move equipment in and out for special programs.

ECCC President Dr. Brent Gregory said, “The college has made significant efforts to maintain and enhance this facility, ensuring that it continues to serve both the campus and the surrounding communities effectively.”

The ramp, which is located on the East side of the college’s largest auditorium, replaces an antiquated chair lift system that had become difficult to maintain and required college personnel to operate during special events.

Huff Auditorium was constructed in 1953 and has a seating capacity of 838. It is located at the front of campus and is used throughout the year for graduations, awards day, musical programs, and other various campus activities. It is also widely used by the public for a variety of events.

Previous renovations included a major refurbishment in 1990 funded through donations to the ECCC Foundation. New seating was installed in 2014 and restrooms were renovated in 2016.
