Kristin Chaney is in her third season as Head Coach after four years as the assistant coach.

In addition to her coaching duties, Chaney serves as academic advisor to student athletes.

Prior to joining the ECCC staff, Chaney attended the University of Southern Mississippi, where she received master and bachelor’s degrees in sports administration in 2008 and 2007, respectively. She was also a standout member of the Lady Eagle basketball team, receiving most valuable player honors following the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons. In addition, she received the Female Student of the Year and Lady Eagle Award in 2006-07. She was also a member of the 2006-07 and 2007-08 Lady Eagle softball teams.

Chaney is a 2005 honor graduate of ECCC and Hall of Fame member. She is recognized as the College’s only two-sport All-American (basketball/softball) and was selected a National Junior College Athletic Association Academic All-American. She finished second in the NJ­CAA Female Athlete of the Year competition.

Chaney helped lead the 2004-05 fast-pitch softball team to the MACJC Central Division title and a third-place finish in the MACJC/Region 23 Tournament en route to a record 34 wins and only five losses. She received NJCAA All-American, All-Region 23, first team All-State and All-Central Division honors following the record-setting campaign. In addition, she received the Lady Diamond Warriors’ most valuable offensive and defensive player awards.

She also had success leading the softball squad during her freshman season in 2003-04. East Central finished 26-14 after claiming the MACJC Central Division title and advancing to post-season play. She was one of only three freshmen and the only Mississippian selected second team All-American following the successful season. She also received All-Region 23, All-State and All-Central Division honors in addition to her selection as the Lady Warriors’ most valuable player.

A graduate of Newton County High School, she is the daughter of Ricky and Brenda Chaney of Little Rock.

Assistant Coach

Courtney Nunn is in her third season as assistant coach.

In addition to her coaching duties, Nunn serves as a resident supervisor on campus.

Prior to joining the ECCC coaching staff, Nunn assisted with recreational projects for the Jackson Parish Recreation Department in Jonesboro, La. She also has experience as an umpire for softball and baseball games on several levels. In addition, she has provided pitching instruction to young softball players in her hometown. Most recently, she served as a volunteer pitching coach for a softball clinic hosted by East Mississippi Community College in Scooba.

Nunn is a former softball standout as a pitcher on the high school, community college and four-year college levels.

At Jonesboro-Hodge High School, she received first team All-State honors in 2007 and 2008 and was earned first-team All-District selection in 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008. She was named second team All-District selection in 2005. She was named second team All-District in 2005. She was recognized as the LHSAA All-North Strikeout Leader in 2008. She helped lead Jonesboro-Hodge to the state semi-finals in 2006.

Nunn continued her career at East Mississippi, where in 2010 she received All-Region and MACJC All-State honors as a pitcher and was named MACJC All-North Division Defensive Player of the Year. She also earned MACJC All-State honors in 2009. She received an Associates of Arts degree in May 2010.

At Mississippi College, Nunn was named ASC Conference Pitcher of the Year and received first team All-Conference honors in 2012. She helped lead the Lady Choctaws to the ASC Conference and NCAA Regions in 2011. In addition, she received “Athlete of the Week” honors on three occasions during the 2011 and 2012 seasons. She earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology in May 2012.
