East Central Community College defensive back Juwon Hayes-Keyes has been named the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges Football Defensive Player of the Week for his play against Pearl River Community College Thursday, Sept. 15.

The 5-10, 186-pound sophomore out of Taylorsville High School tallied 11 total tackles and three interceptions in East Central’s division-opening victory over the Wildcats.

The 35-21 win improved ECCC to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the MACJC South Division.

On the season, Hayes-Keyes is tied for first in the MACJC in interceptions with three total in three games.

East Central’s Warriors will face Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Thursday, Sept. 22, in Bailey Stadium in Decatur at 6:30 p.m.
