The second annual East Central Community College WarriorFest is set for Saturday, April 22, on the Decatur campus and will feature the nationally ranked Diamond Warriors in double header baseball action against Itawamba Community College, as well as a Crawfish Boil and other activities.

The highlight of this year’s event is an attempt to set the record for single game, regular season, on-campus attendance for Mississippi community college baseball and ECCC is looking for 767 people to make history as they walk through the gates that day at the Clark-Gay Baseball Complex.

Admission to the game is $5 and includes a free baseball clinic for ages 6-12, KidZone activities and music beginning at noon. ECCC students, faculty and staff will be admitted free with valid school ID. A crawfish boil and other concession items will be available for an additional fee beginning at 1 p.m. The Diamond Warriors begin doubleheader action at 2 p.m.

The baseball clinic will be led by head coach Neal Holliman, his staff and players.

“We invite our local communities to come out for an afternoon of fun, food, and fellowship as we try to set the record for attendance,” said ECCC President Dr. Billy Stewart. “Our Alumni Association and many other members of our college family have put together an event that will provide fun for all ages.”

Also, the nationally ranked East Central Lady Diamond Warrior softball team will host Baton Rouge Community College that day in games scheduled for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at the Softball Park on the ECCC campus. There is no admission for the softball games.
