The East Central Community College baseball team was swept by Hinds Community College after letting the Eagles take early leads in both games of the doubleheader at the Clark-Gay Baseball Complex in Decatur Tuesday, April 11.

Hinds took game one 6-3 and the nightcap 13-5.

With the losses, the Warriors dropped to 22-12 overall and 8-8 in MACJC league play. The Eagles improved to 21-9 on the season and 10-4 in the league.

In game one, Hinds had a 6-0 lead before the Warriors could get on the scoreboard, but East Central made a game of it with one run in the fourth and two in the sixth.

A single off the bat of Brandon Clark of Neshoba Central pushed across the first run for the Warriors. A two-run home run by Billy Cameron out of Mendenhall High School made the score 6-3 in the sixth inning, but that's as close as the Warriors could get.

Six East Central pitchers gave up 11 hits and two walks, while striking out five batters.

In the second game, the Warriors only trailed Hinds 2-1 in the bottom of the second, but Hinds put nine runs on the scoreboard in the top of the third inning to run away with the lead.

A solo homer by Ty Alderman of Newton County Academy put the Warriors on the scoreboard early.

ECCC added a run in the third on a single by Jacob Edwards of Newton County High School. They added three more runs in the final two innings of the seven-inning affair on a single by Nathan Roseberry of Purvis High School, a sacrifice fly and a single by Wyatt Ball of Nanih Waiya High School.

East Central is back in action on Friday, April 14, when Northeast Mississippi Community College visits Clark-Gay Baseball Complex for games at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
