Students from East Central Community College competed in 13 events at the recent FBLA Collegiate State Leadership Conference held at Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia.  
 
Of the 13 events, ECCC placed in 10 categories.  
 
Along with competition victories, ECCC’s Jasmine Overton was named to Who’s Who in FBLA and received the Rufus T. Jones Scholarship, while Jaelean Hathorne was appointed as State Parliamentarian. 
 
As a chapter, East Central was recognized with second place in fundraising for the March of Dimes and was named a Gold Seal Chapter. 
 
State award winners include Jaelean Hathorne, Jena Gunter, and Liv Wheat, first place, state of the chapter; Jena Gunter, first place, computer applications; Jena Gunter, first place, future business teacher; Averi Hill and Jasmine Hathorne, second place, entrepreneurial pitch; Jediah King, second place, business law; Averi Hill, second place, retail management; Liv Wheat, fourth place, impromptu speaking; Jaelean Hathorne, fourth place, parliamentary procedure; Jaelean Hathorne, fourth place, job interview; and Jasmine Overton, fourth place, public speaking.  
 
Students now qualify for the National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla. this summer.
