The East Central Community College men’s golf team participated in the Coastal Alabama Community College Invitational Feb. 17-18 held at Rock Creek Golf Club in Fairhope, Ala.

Sophomore Bailey Threlkeld, who prepped at Choctawatchee High School in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., led East Central with a seven-over par 151 over the two-day, 36-hole tournament. Also scoring for East Central was freshman Jacob Hamner (Vanderbilt Catholic, Houma, La.), with a 12-over par 156; sophomore David Barry of West Jones, with a 17-over par 161; freshman Jacob School of Madison Central, with a 25-over par 169; and freshman Nathan Davis of Newton County, with a 26-over par 170.

ECCC freshman golfers Noah Nance of Hurley and Jacob Jenkins of Madison Central competed as individuals. Nance had a 31-over par 175 and Jenkins shot a 47-over par 191.

As a team, East Central finished ninth overall as one of only three National Junior College Athletic Association Division II schools in the field.

The Warriors will next compete in Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges Event No. 4 March 5-6 at Northwood Country Club in Meridian.

East Central will host the MACJC Conference/State Tournament April 12-13 at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club in Choctaw.
