The East Central Community College Warrior golf team finished in eighth place in the Carey Collegiate Classic during Spring Break.

The tournament, hosted by William Carey University was held March 12-13 at Canebrake Country Club in Hattiesburg. East Central shot 624 as a team.

For the third straight tournament, the Warriors were led by sophomore Bailey Threlkeld. The product of Choctawatchee High School in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., finished tied for 17th with a four over par 148 over the 36 holes. Sophomore David Barry of West Jones finished tied for 24th with a six over par 150. Also competing for East Central were freshman Jacob Hamner (Vanderbilt Catholic, Houma, La.), who tied for 33rd with a nine-over par 153; freshman Noah Nance of Hurley, who finished tied for 39th with a 12 over par 156; and freshmen Nathan Davis of Newton County and Jacob School of Madison Central, who finished tied for 69th with a 174 each.

The Warriors will next compete in MACJC Event No. 5 March 24-25 at Ackia Golf Club in Amory.

East Central will host the MACJC Conference/State Tournament April 12-13 at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club in Choctaw.
