The East Central Community College women’s basketball team led most of the contest, but could not hold off a late Southwest Mississippi Community College comeback in a 74-17 loss in Summit Monday, Dec. 5.

ECCC led by 10 at the end of the third period of play, but Lady Bears outscored ECCC by 13 points in fourth to drop the Lady Warriors opening game of MACJC South Division play.

ECCC freshman forward Autumn Taylor of Newton High School set a career high and led all scorers with 26 points. She also pulled down eight rebounds, and had eight steals and four assists. It was the fifth consecutive game that Taylor put up double-digit scoring. Freshman guard Khelsea Foster of Arcadia (La.) High School added 12 points for the Lady Warriors.

The East Central women dropped 5-2 on the season and 0-1 in the division play. Southwest improved to 8-0 and 1-0 in division play.

The Lady Warriors will host Northeast Mississippi Community College Thursday, Dec. 8, in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium in Decatur. The game is set for 5:30 p.m. with the men’s action to follow.
