The East Central Community College women’s basketball team fell to Northeast Mississippi Community College 77-61 Thursday, Dec. 8, in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium in Decatur.

Freshman Autumn Taylor of Newton High School led ECCC scorers with 17 points. She added three assists and two steals. 

ECCC trailed by 10 at the half, but outscored the Lady Tigers by five points in the third quarter. Freshman Kaylin McCree’s (Newton County High School) layup put ECCC on top 44-43 with 4:35 left in the third quarter; however, ECCC could not hold on to the lead in the final quarter.

East Central fell to 5-3 on the season.

The Lady Warriors will travel to Shelton State Community College Monday, Dec. 12, to finish this year’s games. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Both the men’s and women’s teams resume play Jan. 10 at East Mississippi Community College in Scooba.
