Four East Central Community College women’s basketball players finished in double figures Monday, Jan. 23, as the Lady Warriors beat Pearl River Community College in Poplarville. The Lady Warriors picked up their third MACJC South Division win with a 72-67 victory over the Lady Wildcats.

Freshman forward Autumn Taylor of Newton High School led all ECCC scorers with 19 points. Curtisha Coleman of Wayne County High School put up 13 points, LaNeisha Jeans of Pine Forest (Fla.) High School had 12, and Aniyah Marshall of Itawamba Agricultural High School added 10 points.

The Lady Warriors took the lead in the second quarter after putting up 23 points and took a 30-22 lead at intermission.

Pearl River trailed by as much as 15 in the fourth quarter, but rallied the final deficit to five as time ran out.

East Central improved to 9-5 overall and 3-2 in the MACJC South. Pearl River dropped to 8-4 on the season and 1-4 in the South.

The Lady Warriors will host No. 21 nationally ranked Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats Thursday, Jan. 26, at 5:30 p.m. in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium in Decatur.
