The East Central Community College men’s basketball team defeated Wallace Community College-Selma out of Alabama 87-71 in the EC Classic held in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium in Decatur Nov. 22.

The Warriors led the Patriots 35-28 at the intermission, and held on to the lead for the win.

Four Warriors posted double-digit scoring including freshman guard Jaquan Dotson of Neshoba Central High School who led all scorers with 19 points while pulling down six rebounds. Sophomore forward Tonzell Handy of Lanier High School added 17 points and was the leading rebounder with nine. Cayman Ruffin of Neshoba Central High School put up 16 points and Shaquille Benson of Hahnville (La.) High School had 10 points.

WCCS dropped to 8-2 on the season, while the Warriors improved to 4-2 after a forfeit from Taylormade Academy on the first day of the EC Classic.

The Warriors will begin division play when they travel to Southwest Mississippi Community College Monday, Dec. 5, to face the Bears at 7:15 p.m., before hosting Northeast Mississippi Community College Thursday, Dec. 8, in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium in Decatur at 7:30 p.m.
