The East Central Community College Warriors stopped a three-match losing streak while the Lady Warriors won their second straight match when the teams from Northwest Mississippi visited the soccer pitch in Decatur Friday, Sept. 13, for MACJC North Division matches.

The ECCC Lady Warriors won the opener 3-1. The Warriors then took care of the North Division sweep with a 4-3 win in the second match of the afternoon.

With the win, the East Central Lady Warriors improved to 4-2 on the season and 2-2 in division play, while the Northwest women fell to 1-6 overall and 1-3 in North Division play.

The ECCC Warriors improved to 3-4 on the season and 1-3 in division play. The Northwest Rangers are now 1-5 overall and 1-3 in the division.

The Warriors were led by two goals from freshman midfielder Caleb James (Jackson, Jim Hill), giving him three goals for the week. He was assisted by freshman midfielder Guilherme Sales (Manaus, Brazil) on the first goal, and by freshman midfielder Raphael Salles (San Paulo, Brazil) on the second goal.

Sophomore midfielder Terrell Johnson (Jackson, Murrah) also scored a goal, with an assist by Sales, and Salles added the fourth goal of the match, with an assist by freshman forward Rashun Ludgood (George County).

Sophomore forward Leah Anderson (Leyland, United Kingdom) scored her eighth goal of the season just 28 seconds into the match to give East Central a 1-0 lead. Freshman forward Hannah Herren (Florence) and sophomore midfielder Macey Spencer (Florence) added second-half goals for the Lady Warriors. Assists came from Spencer, freshman midfielder Abbie Rutledge (Sheffield, United Kingdom), and Anderson.

Sophomore Emily Pitts (Pearl) got the win in goal.

The East Central teams will face Pearl River in Poplarville at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17, before playing in the Rush Tournament Friday, Sept. 20, in Meridian. The Lady Warriors will face LSU-Eunice at 1 p.m. in the tournament and the Warriors will also face LSU-Eunice in a match starting at 3 p.m.
