The nationally ranked Jones College tennis teams handed East Central Community College a pair of losses in MACJC matches played Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Tennis Complex on the ECCC campus in Decatur.

The No. 17 ranked Jones women defeated the ECCC Lady Warriors 7-2, while the No. 25 ranked Jones Bobcats topped the Warriors 8-1.

It was the home-opening matches for the East Central teams after a pair of road wins over Marion Military Institute (Ala.) last week.

“Josie Hurst and Alex Tindall won good singles matches against the defending state champion women’s team, but as a team would could not finish some close doubles matches,” said ECCC head coach Jay Pacelli. “On the men’s side, it was a tough match against a ranked team. I’m looking for better things ahead for both teams against Blue Mountain and Co-Lin.”
