The East Central Community College men’s soccer team dropped its first match of the season and its home opener 3-0 to Southwest Mississippi Community College Tuesday, Aug. 29.
The match was played on the turf at the Bailey Stadium football complex in Decatur in a steady rain.
Southwest took a 2-0 lead in the first half on goals by Jaime Delor and Stephon Walker. The Bears closed out the scoring in the second half with a goal by Connor Smith.
With the loss, East Central dropped to 1-1 on the regular season. Southwest improved to 4-0.
East Central will open Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges North Division play Friday, Sept. 1, against Holmes at 7 p.m. at Ridgeland High School in Ridgeland. The ECCC women face Holmes at 5 p.m.
The Warriors return home Wednesday, Sept. 6, to face Itawamba at 4 p.m. at the Soccer Complex in Decatur. The ECCC women will face Itawamba at 2 p.m.
