ECCC Will ‘Black-Out Bailey’ at Thursday’s Season Opening Football Game

The East Central Community College Warriors will open their 2016 football season Thursday, Sept. 1, against Holmes Community College, and all Warrior fans are encouraged to wear black to the annual “Black-Out Bailey” night.

Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. on the synthetic turf of Bailey Stadium on the Decatur campus.

East Central is coming off its best season in 16 years. The 2015 East Central football team, under the direction of head coach Ken Karcher, advanced to the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges state playoffs losing 27-20 to eventual National Junior College Athletic Association National Champion Northwest Mississippi Community College. The Warriors capped off their season last December with a 35-21 win over No. 20 Kilgore College in the C.H.A.M.P.S. Heart of Texas Bowl.

The Warriors finished the 2015 season with an 8-3 record, the best won-loss record since 1999. The Warriors were ranked No. 10 in the final 2015 NJCAA Top 20 Poll.

East Central and Holmes faced off last Sept. 17, with the Warriors coming away with a 29-14 road win in a game played at Grenada High School.
