The East Central Community College Workforce Development Center will offer numerous classes during the month of April at various locations throughout the district.

 

Classes offered at the Neshoba Business Enterprise Center include:

• Business Issues-Disaster Recovery–Offered by the Small Business Development Center, this free class will be held Tuesday, April 18, and meets from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Neshoba Business Enterprise Center, which is located at 1018 Saxton Road in Philadelphia.

Business Issue seminars are designed to offer topics of interest to small business owners.

Classes offered on the Decatur campus include:

• How to Develop a Business Plan–Offered by the Small Business Development Center, this free class will be held Monday, April 24, and meets from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the ECCC Workforce Development Center, located on the Decatur campus.

The seminar is designed to assist in preparing a business plan, industry research, description of company products and services, identifying target customer groups and a marketing plan.

Classes offered at the Carthage Career Advancement Center include:

• Basic Computer and Microsoft Office 2010–Begins Tuesday, April 18, and meets from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for six consecutive Tuesdays at the Carthage Career Advancement Center located at 121 West Main St. in Carthage. Cost is $50 per person. Delisha Payton Townsend will serve as instructor.

This course is designed to introduce students to the fundamental concepts and basic operation of computers. In this course, participants will become familiar with computer terminology, fundamentals of keyboarding, and creating documents.

• Pharmacy Tech–Begins Tuesday, April 18, and meets from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. for 14 consecutive Tuesdays at the Carthage Career Advancement Center located at 121 West Main St. in Carthage. Cost is $275 per person. The certification exam will cost an additional $129. Participants must also have scored at the Silver Level on the WorkKeys assessment. Melissa Smith will serve as instructor.

• Introduction to Computer for Adult Learners 55 & Over–The free class begins Thursday, April 20, and meets from 9 a.m. to noon for four consecutive Thursdays at the Carthage Career Advancement Center located at 121 West Main St. in Carthage.

This course will introduce participants to the basic functions of computer operation and is designed for individuals with no or very limited computer use.
