All four East Central Community College students participating in the 2023 Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Collegiate National Leadership Conference have received national recognition at the annual event.

FBLA Collegiate is a national business education association for students interested in careers in business and related fields. It stands as the largest career student organization in the world. This year's conference took place in Atlanta, Georgia.

In addition to the individual honors awarded, ECCC's Theta Chi Chapter achieved Gold Seal Recognition, being one of only two chapters in Mississippi to receive this prestigious honor. Moreover, the chapter was ranked eighth in the Outstanding Chapter category, the sole representative from Mississippi to earn this distinction.

Participants included Armondo Lopez, Hannah Mowdy, and Guillermo Espinoza Fermin, who secured fourth place in website design. Perla Lopez finished sixth in human resources management, while Armondo Lopez and Mowdy claimed eighth in marketing analysis and decision making.

Furthermore, in addition to the recognition in website design, Fermin was named Mississippi's Who's Who in FBLA Collegiate. Fermin also received a $695 scholarship to attend the conference, based on his submitted resume and written essay.

The ECCC FBLA chapter is under the guidance of advisor Christy Ferguson from Philadelphia.
