The East Central Community College Lady Warrior basketball team moved to 2-1 on the year after grabbing a hard-fought road victory over Coastal Alabama-North to start the week. The Lady Warriors are back on the hardwood later this week as the team travels to Niceville, Fla. to take on Denmark Technical College on Friday, Nov. 12, and Northwest Florida State College on Saturday, Nov. 13 in the NWF Classic.

The Lady Warriors were firing on all cylinders to start off the game with the Coastal Alabama-North Lady Eagles on Monday as the team piled up 28 points in the first 10 minutes of play. Cori Keats (Philadelphia) was lighting up the floor with three, three-point baskets to give ECCC some early momentum. After one, ECCC was on top 28-13.

The second quarter was a little more even-keeled as the high-flying ECCC offense cooled down, despite the slower scoring rate, the Lady Warriors outpaced the Lady Eagles in the frame and head to the locker room on top, 42-27.

ECCC posted another 20-point quarter in the third as the Lady Warriors capitalized on trips to the free throw line, nailing 12 shots from the charity stripe. The big lead came in handy as the Lady Eagles made a late push in the fourth quarter outscoring ECCC by 11 points, but it was not enough as ECCC grabbed the win, 76-64.

Myeisha Scott (Jackson) led ECCC in scoring as she poured in 20 points including going 6-for-6 from the stripe. Sylvia Jones (Brighton, Tenn.) was another double-digit scorer with 14 points, while Angela Middleton (Pontotoc) came off the bench to score 10.
