The East Central Community College Lady Warriors went 1-1 on the weekend as the team participated in the Northwest Florida Classic in Niceville, Fla., Nov. 12-13. The event was hosted by the defending NJCAA D1 National Champions and current No. 1 team, Northwest Florida State College. 

East Central took on Denmark Technical College in the first game of the weekend and picked up a tough, four-point 65-61 win. The two teams were neck-and-neck in the first quarter, but the Lady Warriors pulled way in the second as ECCC outscored DTC by six, 14-8. The big frame allowed ECCC to take a 32-23 lead into the locker room. 

DTC came out firing in the second half and poured in 22 points in the third to cut ECCC's lead to just five going into the final 10 minutes of play. In the fourth, the Lady Warriors almost pulled away, but DTC kept it close. Cori Keats (Philadelphia) helped tremendously with a late three-pointer followed by a pair of three-point plays from Shemaiah Smith (Terry) and Sylvia Jones (Brighton, Tenn.) to help solidify the victory. 

Myeisha Scott (Jackson) led the Lady Warriors with 18 points, while Wynter Taylor (Dallas, Texas) posted her first double-double of the year with 16 points and 10 rebounds. 

On Saturday, the Lady Warriors took on the host school, Northwest Florida State. 

The Lady Warriors battled throughout the 40 minutes, but turnovers were costly for the ECCC. At the break, ECCC trailed 33-18. The Lady Warriors posted their biggest quarter in the third as they netted 16 points, but the Lady Raiders posted a pair of 21-point frames in the second half to pull away to a 75-43 victory. 

Faith Guy (Enterprise) came off the bench to post a season-high 12 points as she rattled in 4-of-6 three-pointers. Jones was the other double-digit scorer for ECCC as she added 12. Scott cleaned the glass for ECCC with nine rebounds in the game.
