The East Central Community College Lady Warrior softball team has their 2022 home opener, tomorrow, Tuesday, February 15, as the Lady Warriors take on Coastal Alabama-North at 3 and 5 p.m. The doubleheader, which will take place on 'The Mound' in Decatur, can be seen live at www.eccclive.com/gold

The Lady Warriors enter the contest on a three-game winning streak and with a 4-2 overall record after taking on numerous out-of-state opponents to open the season. The Lady Warriors already split with Coastal Alabama-North in the second doubleheader of the year with a 9-5 loss in game one, before roaring back in the nightcap with a 13-10 win.

ECCC opened the year with a split against Marion Military Institute with a 6-5, extra-inning, win in the season opener, before falling in game two, 5-4.

The Lady Warriors head into the home opener with lots of momentum after a pair of wins on Sunday, February 13, at Northeast Mississippi Community College's TigerFest tournament. ECCC downed Kaskaskia College 6-1 in the first game of the day, before defeating Lincoln Trail College, 6-5, with a walk-off, two-run homer from Taylor Pittman (Waynesboro) in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Leading the way at the plate for the Lady Warriors thus far in the year is Lizzy Hollingsworth (Decatur) who is batting .375 with two doubles and five RBIs. Mattie Hodge (Laurel) also has a great average early in the year with a .350. Emmi Harkins (Carthage) leads the team with seven RBIs and is tied with Hodge with three doubles each. Other notables are Meadow Villar's (Dallas, Ga.) five RBIs on three hits. Anna Caime (Zachary, La.) and Pittman are the only Lady Warriors to go long thus far in the year.

In the circle, Caroline Jackson (Philadelphia) leads ECCC in innings pitched with 14.2 and in strikeouts with 15. She has posted a 1-0 record and a .955 ERA. Rae Rae Evans (Grayson, La.) has thrown 13 innings, has a 2-1 record, and has fanned 10 batters on the year, while Jayce Currie (West Monroe, La.) has a 1-0 record, seven strikeouts, and 11.2 innings pitched.

The Lady Warriors have five more dates of non-conference matchups before hosting East Mississippi on Saturday, March 12, for the MACCC opener.
