East Central Community College's River Maskew and Bryce Denley represented the Warriors at the NJCAA DII Gulf District Championship as individuals this week. The tournament was held at Kirkwood National in Holly Springs.

Mississippi Gulf Coast, Meridian, Copiah-Lincoln, Northeast Mississippi, and Pearl River competed in the event as teams, while Maskew and Denley joined players from Itawamba and East Mississippi competing as individuals. Individuals were selected based on their scoring averages for the season.

A rainy day in the first round made for rough conditions, but both Maskew and Denley persevered carding an 81 and 78, respectively, on the par 72, 6,648-yard course.

Maskew backed up his opening-round 81 with another 81 on the second day for a two-day total of 162, while Denley posted a 94 for a two-day 174. Maskew's 162 was the lowest score among individuals and placed him tied 19th overall, while Deneley finished 26th.

Gulf Coast went on to win the event as a team with a 594 two-day total, while Meridian finished second (600), and Co-Lin third (615).

The event rounds out the 2021-2022 season for the Warrior golf team.
