The East Central Community College Warriors fell to 2-5 overall on the year Thursday night, Dec. 2, and to 0-1 in MACCC play as the Pearl River Community College Wildcats snagged an 81-59 win in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium in Decatur. PRCC moves to 6-2 on the year and to 1-0 in conference play. The Warriors have just two more games before a three-week hiatus in the season for Christmas break.

The first 15 minutes of action went back-and-forth as the lead traded hands eight times and the game saw four ties. With 5:45 remaining in the first half, the game was knotted at 29-all. A 13-2 PRCC scoring burst broke that tie and send the Wildcats into the half with a 42-31 advantage.

Some baskets from Antwan Hatten (Laurel), Tynerious Daniels (Bassfield), and Jelani Clark (Oakland, Calif.) cut the PRCC lead down to eight in the first couple of minutes in the second, but the Wildcat lead proved too much as another scoring run pulled the contest of reach.

Clark and Daniels led the Warriors in the scoring column with 10 points each, while Christopher Keys (Quitman) led the team with seven rebounds. The Wildcats were led by 19 points from Jaronn Wilkens. PRCC finished the night shooting 51 percent from the floor and 48 percent beyond the arc, while the Warriors posted a 39 percent performance on field goals and 24 percent from three-point range. ECCC was outrebounded 41 to 27.

The Warriors are on the road this Monday, December 6 as the team looks to get revenge on the Coahoma Tigers who they just played earlier this week. Coahoma took that contest 82-80, but next week's matchup counts towards the MACCC schedule. Tipoff in Clarksdale is set for 6 p.m.
