The East Central Community College golf team was back in MACCC action this week as the team traveled to McComb for the Southwest Spring Invitational hosted by Southwest Mississippi Community College February 21-22 at the Quail Hollow Golf Club. The event served as the fourth MACCC tournament of the 2021-22 season and the first of the spring portion of the season. 

Meridian got the win as the team fired a team total of 287 (-1) on the second day to leap Mississippi Gulf Coast and Northeast for the top spot with a two-day total of 588 (+12). Gulf Coast finished just one stroke back at 589, while Northeast posted a 603 for third place. 

East Central finished in 7th place with a 665 defeating the hosting Southwest Bears and East Mississippi Lions. 

Every ECCC golfer finished the top 50 individually with Bryce Denley(Mandeville, La.) and River Maskew (Lucedale) tieing for 33rd. Both golfers shot a 163 with Denly shooting an 88 in the first round, and a stellar 75 in the second, while Maskew carded rounds of 84 and 83. Lee Hill (Decatur) finished 37th overall with rounds of 84 and 83, while Gage Miller (Anniston, Ala.) and Davis Pool (Caledonia) posted 46th and 48th place finishes with scores of 174 and 176, respectively. 

The Warriors will be back on the links on Sunday, March 6, and Monday, March 7, as the team hosts the next conference tournament at the Dancing Rabbit Golf Club in Philadelphia.
