ECCC Baseball Team to Host Open Tryout May 7

The East Central Community College baseball team will host an open tryout on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, for players interested in playing for the Warriors next season.

The tryout will be begin at 4 p.m. at the Clark-Gay Baseball Complex on the campus in Decatur.

ECCC Men’s Basketball to Hold Tryout April 6

The East Central Community College men’s basketball team will hold a tryout beginning at Noon on Saturday, April 6, in Brackeen-Wood Gym on the campus in Decatur.

The tryout is open to players who will graduate from high school in 2019, or have already graduated but have not already played two years of college sports.

The cost is $20 per person, and players should bring their own basketball shoes.

ECCC Softball Collects 36 Hits, 31 Runs in Road Sweep of East Mississippi

The East Central Community College softball team rebounded from a couple of midweek losses to No. 1 raned Jones College by scoring 31 runs on 36 hits in a doubleheader sweep against the East Mississippi Lady Lions in action Saturday, March 23, at the softball field on the EMCC campus in Scooba.

The Lady Warriors won the opener 21-3 and followed that with a come-from-behind 10-7 win in game two.

ECCC Baseball Earns Doubleheader Split in MACJC Opener at Holmes

Runs were at a minimum as the East Central Community College Warriors opened 2019 MACJC league play with a doubleheader split against the Holmes Bulldogs in games played Saturday, March 16, at Charlie Donald Field in Goodman.

The Warriors left the bases loaded in the top of the ninth in a 5-4 loss in the nine-inning first game. Five East Central pitchers limited the Bulldogs to a single run in a 3-1 win in the nightcap to gain the doubleheader split.

No. 25 ECCC Women’s Tennis Defeats Gulf Coast, Men Fall

The East Central Community College women’s tennis team lived up to its new top 25 ranking with a 7-2 win over Gulf Coast on Friday, March 15, while the East Central men dropped an 8-1 match to the Gulf Coast Bulldogs. The two teams met on the Gulf Coast campus in Perkinston.

The Lady Warriors, who entered the Oracle/ITA NJCAA Women’s Top 25 poll this week at No. 25, improved to 7-5 on the season, while the Warriors fell to 6-6.
