January 19, 2018

The East Central Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams went on the road after a week off due to the winter weather and dropped a pair of MACJC South Division games at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson Thursday, Jan. 18.

The Co-Lin Lady Wolves won the women’s game 86-67, while the Wolves followed with a 97-74 win over the ECCC Warriors.

Freshman guard Roti Ware continued his hot play of late dropping in 31 points to lead the East Central Community College Warriors to their seventh straight win 89-77 over the Meridian Community College Eagles in a game played on the MCC campus Thursday, Jan. 11.

The East Central women lost for the second straight game after starting the season 8-0. The Meridian Lady Eagles took a 66-56 Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges South Division win in the opening game of the night.

The East Central Community College basketball teams entertained rival East Mississippi Tuesday, Jan. 9, and split a pair of non-division games played in Brackeen-Wood Gym on the ECCC campus in Decatur.

The East Central Community College basketball programs are hosting the MLK Tournament Jan. 13 and Jan. 15 to commemorate the Martin Luther King Holiday.

The MLK Tournament for boys will be played Saturday, Jan. 13, in Brackeen-Wood Gym on the Decatur campus.

Gary Rundles, head baseball coach at the University of West Alabama, will be the featured speaker at the annual East Central Community College Baseball First Pitch Dinner at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 26. The event will be held in the Mabry Memorial Cafeteria on the Decatur campus.

The East Central Community College Choral Department will host a Father/Daughter Valentine Dance Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, on the Decatur campus.

The event will feature a Princess Theme for ages five and up and will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Mabry Memorial Cafeteria. The cost is $30 per couple and if a father has more than one daughter, it is an additional $5 per child.  Light refreshments will be included.

Ryan Joiner, whose teams have won three Mississippi High School Activities Association state championships in the past four seasons, is the new head women’s soccer coach at East Central Community College in Decatur.

The East Central Community College Workforce Development Center will offer a Welding course at the Louisville/Winston County Career & Technical Center beginning Monday, Jan. 15, 2018.

The class will meet from 3 to 9 pm. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for three consecutive weeks. Instruction includes GMAW, FCAW, and MCAW processes.

Cost to attend is $150 per person and Shane McDaniel will serve as instructor.
