East Central Community College DECA students received various awards during state DECA competition held recently at the Clyde Muse Center in Pearl. First and second place winners will advance to national competition scheduled in Washington, D.C., in April. Award recipients included (front row, from left) Brianna Campbell of Decatur, sixth place, restaurant and food service management; Alaina Barrier of Philadelphia, fifth place, restaurant and food service management; Laicon Partain of Sebastopol and Albany Davis of Newton, sixth place, business ethics; and Claire Harris of Lake, first place, fashion merchandising and marketing; and (back row, from left) Sam Moore of Union and Summer Henry of Decatur, first place, sports and entertainment marketing; and Hailey Morris of Union and Andrew Elberson of Bad Kreuznach, Germany, second place, international marketing. Wanda Hurley, Ruth Gregory and Barry Karrh serve as advisors. DECA is an international association of high school and college students and teachers of marketing, management and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality, and marketing sales and service.
