East Central Community College in Decatur pinned 20 practical nursing students on Monday, July 31 in the Ovid S. Vickers Auditorium.
The ceremony included an invocation from Meissa Thomas of Enterprise who gave the invocation and welcoming remarks from David Case, ECCC’s Executive Vice President.
Cillmuriel Gladney, a Louisville native and the 2023 PN Student of the Year, gave an address to the graduates before Theresa Cole, Director/Faculty for Practical Nursing, presented the graduates. Faculty member LaShonda Boddie pinned the graduates. Upon lighting their lamps, the graduates recited the Nightingale Pledge, led by Dr. Donna Everett, the Dean of Healthcare Education. Stephanie Grantham of Morton, a PN student representative, gave the benediction to conclude the ceremony.
Graduates included: Linzy Grace Atkinson of Carthage, Rachael Barnett of Union, Shanika Bobbitt of Lena, Stephanie Clark of Collinsville, Coralyn Diane Crosby of Little Rock, Shania Edwards of Philadelphia, Brittany Fox of Enterprise, Cillmuriel Gladney of Louisville, Stephanie Grantham of Morton, Jennifer Michelle Hammond of Decatur, Amechia Hickmon of Union, Kirby Jones of Stonewall, Telisa Mitchell of Carthage, Malik Newsome of Meridian, Stephanie Porter of Conehatta, Maya Rangel of Choctaw, Andrea M. Ruffin of Newton, Meissa D. Thomas of Enterprise, Veranique Wash of Newton, and Lexie Brooke Willis of Philadelphia.
The ECCC PN Program admits one class annually in the fall. Applications for the PN Program may be obtained beginning October 1 of the fall semester previous to the upcoming fall admission cycle. The application deadline for admission is January 31. All entrance materials must be on file in the Office of Admissions and Records and the Office of Healthcare Education by January 31.
