The East Central Community College Workforce Development Center will offer the following courses during the months of November and December at locations throughout the college district.

Louisville

Welding: Begins Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at the Louisville/Winston County Career-Technical Center, located at 204 Ivy Ave. The class will meet from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for three consecutive weeks. Shane McDaniel will serve as instructor. Cost is $150 per person. 

Instruction will include GMAW, FCAW and MCAW processes. East student will be required to have a welding jacket, helmet, gloves and safety glasses. Boots and jeans are required for this class and no shorts or jeans with holes or frays will be allowed.

Certified Nurse Aide: Begins Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, at the Louisville Career Advancement Center, located at 860 Church Street. Classes will meet from 4 to 8 p.m.  Tuesdays and Thursdays for eight consecutive weeks. Alan Krajewski will serve as instructor. Cost is $766 and includes everything except the TB Skin Test. Interested participants must score at the Silver Level on the WorkKeys test to attend this class.

Decatur

First Steps-The Process of Starting a Small Business: This free seminar will be held Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at the Small Business Development Center, located at 52 9th Street on the college’s Decatur campus. Ronnie Westbrook, director of the SBDC, will serve as instructor.

The workshop will outline the basic steps to starting a business. Topics will include regulations such as licenses and permits, legal forms of business ownership, basic marketing concepts to help analyze the revenue potential, lending terminology, outlining a business plan and other resources to assist in starting a business.

Customer Service–Give ‘Em the Pickle: This free seminar will be held Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, at the Carthage Career Advancement Center located on the square in Carthage. Ronnie Westbrook, director of the SBDC, will serve as instructor.

Topics include Service-Making serving others your No. 1 priority, Attitude-How you think about your customers is how you will treat them, Consistency-Set high standards and stick to them, and Teamwork-Make your teammates look good because in the end it all ends up in front of the customer.
