ECCC Baseball, Softball Teams Hosting Golf Scramble Fundraiser

The East Central Community College softball and baseball teams are hosting a 27-hole golf scramble tournament Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Decatur Country Club, with all proceeds going to support the two programs.

The tournament will begin at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start. Each two-person team will play nine holes before taking a lunch break. The teams will then be flighted before the final 18 holes of the tournament are played in the afternoon.

Visiting Holmes Takes Soccer Doubleheader from ECCC

The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs took a 5-1 win over the East Central Community College Lady Warriors, and the Bulldogs followed with a 4-0 shutout of the East Central Warriors in MACJC North Division soccer action Friday, Sept. 7, at Bailey Stadium on the ECCC campus in Decatur.

East Central’s only goal in the women’s match came in the first half off the foot of freshman forward Bethany Hand of Dublin Ireland. It was the first goal allowed this season by the Holmes Lady Bulldogs.

ECCC Soccer Warriors Earn First Win at Northwest, Lady Warriors Fall

Powered by a pair of goals from sophomore midfielder Vitor Gomes, the East Central Community College Warriors won their first soccer match of the young season 3-2 over the home-standing Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers. The East Central women fell short in their bid for a win in a 4-2 loss to the Lady Rangers.

The MACJC North Division matches were played Wednesday, Sept. 5, on the Northwest campus in Senatobia.

ECCC Soccer Teams Open Home Seasons With Division Losses to Itawamba

The East Central Community College soccer teams opened their home seasons Friday, Aug. 31, dropping a pair of matches to visiting MACJC North Division foe Itawamba Community College at the Soccer Field in Decatur.

The Lady Warriors took a 1-0 lead into halftime but could not hold on as the Itawamba Lady Indians scored two second half goals for the 2-1 win.

Freshman forward Leah Anderson of Leyland, England, got East Central’s first half goal.
