Two former East Central Community College Warriors are in action in the NCAA March Madness Tournament. ECCC's Jariyah Covington (Starkville) played in Decatur for two seasons from 2018-2020 before inking with the Jackson State Tigers, while Kareem Thompson (Florance, Ala.) played his 2019-20 season with the Warriors before moving on to Oral Roberts in Tulsa, Okla.

The ECCC Lady Warrior basketball team fell to the Southwest Lady Bears in Decatur Wednesday, March 10, 70-51. The loss moves ECCC to 1-7 on the year in both regular season and conference play. The Lady Warriors are on the road on Saturday, March 13, as they travel to Meridian to face the Lady Eagles at 12 p.m. before returning to Decatur to host Hinds at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 15.

The East Central Community College Lady Warriors dropped to 1-6 on the year March 8 as the team fell to the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Lady Wolves, 64-54. The Lady Warriors will be back on the court tomorrow, Wednesday, March 10, as they host the Southwest Lady Bears in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium for a COVID-19 makeup game at 6 p.m.

The Lady Warriors of East Central Community College were neck and neck with the No. 2 Jones College Lady Bobcats on Monday, March 1, at the half, but ultimately fell, 70-49. The loss moves ECCC to 1-4 on the year and improves Jones to 9-0.
Scoring was sparse in the early minutes as the game was tied at 6-6 with just 2:27 remaining in the first quarter. Eventually, the teams would get their feet under them and after one, Jones led by one, 14-13.

The East Central Lady Warriors have postponed the next three contests including tonight's matchup with Meridian due to COVID-19 protocol.
The 2021 schedule has built-in make-up dates, and the chosen date will be announced in the future. At this time, the men's team is still scheduled to play all of the contests. The Lady Warriors of East Central Community College (0-2) showed grit and hustle on Monday night, Feb. 1, but the No. 8 Jones College Lady Bobcats (3-0) were too much as they grabbed a 74-46 victory. ECCC never relented on their effort, but the shots were just not falling for Lady Warriors in the home opener.
