ECCC Announces Test, Interview Dates for MI-BEST Program

East Central Community College in Decatur has announced dates when prospective students can test and interview for acceptance into the MI-BEST program for fall 2017.

MI-BEST allows qualified applicants to take courses they need to prepare for the high school equivalency exam while at the same time training for jobs in fields such as automobile collision repair, hotel and restaurant management, culinary arts, industrial maintenance, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC).

New Courses Offered Through ECCC Workforce Development Center

The East Central Community College Workforce Development Center will offer various new classes beginning during the month of January.

Courses offered at the Philadelphia/Neshoba County Career-Technical Center include:

• Sewing/Embroidery–Classes begin Monday, Jan. 23, and meet from 6 to 9 p.m. for four consecutive Mondays. Cost is $100 per person and Jill Powe will serve as instructor.

ECCC Announces Fall Semester Honor Roll

Students named to the 2016 fall semester honor roll, which includes those selected to the President’s List, Dean’s List and Honorable Mention List, have been announced at East Central Community College in Decatur.

ECCC’s Culinary Arts Technology Program Ranked No. 3 in Mississippi

The Culinary Arts Technology program at East Central Community College in Decatur was ranked No. 3 among all such programs in the state of Mississippi in a recent report by Best Choice Schools.

The rankings, published at, include the top 10 best culinary programs in Mississippi that offer a variety of certificates and degrees in the culinary arts and related fields, a variety of coursework, a low student-to-faculty ratio, a professional work setting, and internship opportunities.

ECCC Offers CNA Class in Decatur Beginning January 23

The East Central Community College Workforce Development Center will offer a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) course beginning January 23 on the Decatur campus.

Classes will meet from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday for six consecutive weeks with clinical dates and times to be announced. Cost is $766 per person and includes everything except the TB Skin Test.

Theresa Cole and Christy Wilson will serve as instructors.

ECCC Workforce Development Courses Offered in Winston County

The East Central Community College Workforce Development Center will offer courses in welding and Pharmacy Tech beginning this month in Winston County.

• Welding–Begins Monday, January 9, and will meet from 3 to 9 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays for two consecutive weeks. Cost is $150 per person. Instruction will include GMAW, FCAW and MCAW processes. Shane McDaniel will serve as instructor.
