Tennis Teams Drop Matches to Nationally Ranked Copiah-Lincoln

The East Central Community College men’s and women’s tennis teams started a three match journey against ranked opponents by dropping close matches to the No. 19 ranked Copiah-Lincoln Community College men and the No. 25 ranked Co-Lin women.

The matches were played Wednesday, April 5, at the ECCC Tennis Complex in Decatur.

The No. 17 ECCC men lost 6-3 and fell to 10-5 on the season. The East Central women lost 5-4 and are now 7-8 on the year.

No. 13 Baseball Loses Road Doubleheader at Pearl River

The No. 13 nationally ranked East Central Community College baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Pearl River Community College Tuesday, April 4, in Poplarville.

The Diamond Warriors could not catch up after letting the Wildcats have early big innings in each contest.

The Wildcats defeated ECCC 7-3 in game one and then took the nightcap 5-2.

With the losses, the Diamond Warriors dropped to 20-10 overall and 6-6 in MACJC league play. Pearl River improved to 17-7 on the season and 8-2 MACJC play.

East Central Tennis Teams Sweep Holmes for Second Time

The East Central Community College men’s and women’s tennis teams swept Holmes Community College for this second time this spring season in matches played Tuesday, April 4, in Goodman.

The No. 17 ranked Warriors defeated the Bulldogs 7-2, while the regionally ranked Lady Warriors won 9-0. The ECCC men are now 10-4 on the season, while the women are 7-7.

ECCC Diamond Warriors Swept By Mississippi Delta in MACJC Action

The East Central Community College baseball team dropped a doubleheader against Mississippi Delta Community College by scores of 4-3 and 3-0 Saturday, April 1, at the Clark-Gay Baseball Complex in Decatur.

In game one, the Diamond Warriors took the early lead going up 2-0 in the third inning scoring runs on a fielder’s choice and a single by Cooper Clement of Water Valley. Mississippi Delta quickly responded with four runs of their on in the top of the fourth of the nine-inning affair.

ECCC Softball Splits in Games Between Nationally Ranked Teams

April 1, 2017

The No. 12 East Central Community College Lady Diamond Warriors went on the road Saturday, April 1, and split a pair of softball games with No. 14 ranked Itawamba Community College in Fulton.

Itawamba won the opener by run-rule in six innings 9-1, while East Central came back to win the second game by run-rule in six innings 10-1.

With the split, the Lady Diamond Warriors record is now 29-5 on the season and 14-4 in MACJC league play. Itawamba stands at 21-9 and 10-4 in league play.
