ECCC and JCJC Split Doubleheader Between Top 20 Baseball Teams

No. 17 East Central Community College Warriors scored eight early runs in the opener and held on for a 12-6 win before losing a heartbreaking 1-0 second game in a baseball doubleheader split with No. 9 Jones County Junior College, Tuesday, March 27, at Community Bank Park in Ellisville.

With the split, East Central is 18-6 overall on the season and 7-1 in MACJC play, which puts the Warriors in second place in the league. The Jones County Bobcats are 18-6 and 5-3.

ECCC to Hold Tryout for Men’s Basketball Team

The East Central Community College men’s basketball team will hold a tryout from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, in Brackeen-Wood Gym on the campus in Decatur.

The tryout is open to players who will graduate from high school in 2018, or have already graduated but have not already played two years of college sports.

The cost is $25 per person, and players should bring their own basketball shoes.

Three ECCC Players Chosen for Annual MACJC All-Star Basketball Games

East Central Community College sophomore basketball players Autumn Taylor of Newton, Jaquan Dotson of Philadelphia, and Thurston McCarty of Quitman were all selected to participate in the annual Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges All-Star Basketball contests.

ECCC Tennis Teams Drop Matches to Wallace State

No. 23 nationally ranked Wallace State Community College (Hanceville, Ala.) beat the East Central Community College men’s tennis team 8-1, while the Wallace State women won a close 5-4 match over the East Central women Saturday morning, March 24, at Tennis Complex on the ECCC campus in Decatur.

The East Central Warriors fell to 1-9 on the spring season, while the Lady Warriors are now 5-5.

ECCC Men’s Tennis Wins First Match of Season, Teams Sweep

The East Central Community College men’s tennis team picked up its first win of the spring season with a 9-0 victory over Holmes Community College, while the East Central women also defeated the Holmes women 9-0. The matches were played Friday, March 23, at the new Tennis Complex on the ECCC campus in Decatur.

With the team sweep, the Warriors are now 1-8 on the spring season, while the Lady Warriors improved to 5-4.
