The East Central Community College tennis teams swept the visitors from Holmes Community College in matches played Friday, March 29, at the ECCC Tennis Complex in Decatur.

The Southwest Bears erased a four-run deficit in game one to take a 5-4 win, before the East Central Community College bats came alive in game two and the Warriors grabbed an 11-1 run-rule win in six innings for the doubleheader split Wednesday, March 27, on the Southwest campus in Summit.

With the MACJC doubleheader split, East Central is now 11-11 overall on the season and 4-4 in MACJC play. Southwest is 10-11 overall and 2-6 in the conference.

The No. 25 ranked East Central Community College women’s tennis team picked up a big 5-4 win over the No. 19 ranked Meridian Community College Lady Eagles Wednesday, March 27, at the ECCC Tennis Complex on the campus in Decatur.

It was East Central’s first win over perennial MACJC power Meridian since Jay Pacelli took over as head coach in July 2015.

East Central Community College sophomore midfielder Hunter Holdiness has signed to continue his soccer career next year at MUW: Mississippi University for Women in Columbus.

The East Central Community College women’s basketball team will hold a tryout from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, in Brackeen-Wood Gym on the campus in Decatur.

The tryout is open to players who will graduate from high school in 2019, or have already graduated but have not already played two years of college sports. Anyone who is not a 2019 high school graduate will need to bring a copy of a recent physical in order to participate.

The cost is $20 per person, and players should bring their own basketball shoes.
