The East Central Community College Warriors saw their season come to an end after falling 74-54 to the top-seeded Jones College Bobcats in a first-round game Wednesday, March 6, in the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 23 Basketball Tournament at A.E. Wood Coliseum on the Mississippi College campus in Clinton.

Playing without its top scorer Roti Ware (Morton), the Warriors could not keep pace with Jones in the second half.

The East Central Community College women’s tennis team defeated No. 24 ranked Hinds Community College 5-4, while the No. 22 Hinds Eagles defeated the East Central men 7-2 in matches played Tuesday, March 5, at the ECCC Tennis Complex on the campus in Decatur.

The ECCC women improved to 6-3, while the men fell to 5-4.

East Central Community College freshman Tanner Knight is the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges Baseball Pitcher of the Week for Feb. 25-March 3, 2019.

East Central Community College in Decatur will hold tryouts for the 2019-20 Cheerleading Squad from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday, April 13, 2019, in the South Campus Gymnasium. There is a $25 fee for all participants.

Pre-tryout clinics will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. April 9-11 in the South Campus Gymnasium. During these sessions, participants will learn the cheer, fight song routine and stunts necessary for tryouts. Those wishing to tryout must attend at least one clinic.

The first ever EC Cares for our Community day, a time when East Central Community College faculty, staff, and students will give back to the communities in the college’s five-county district of Leake, Neshoba, Newton, Scott and Winston counties, will be held Friday, March 8, 2019.

The 18th annual Warrior Golf Classic sponsored by the East Central Community College Alumni Association will be held on Friday, May 10, on the Oaks Course at the Dancing Rabbit Golf Club in Choctaw.
