The East Central Community College golf team finished in fifth place and sophomore David Barry finished ninth in the individual standings at the National Junior College Athletic Association D-II National Preview Tournament Oct. 30-31 at Glen Lakes Golf Club in Foley, Ala.
The Warriors, currently ranked No. 10 nationally by golfstat.com, shot a 64-over par 928 over the 54-hole tournament. Barry, out of West Jones High School, shot an eight-over par 224 to finish in ninth place.

The East Central Community College Concert Choir and Vocé vocal ensemble will present their fall concerts at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, in Vickers Fine Arts Center Auditorium on the Decatur campus. There is no charge for admission and the public is invited to attend.
Choir selections will include “Jazz Cantate,” “Hark! I Hear the Harps Eternal,” “Betelehemu,” and "Breath of Heaven.” Vocé will present “Time After Time,” “Mary, Did You Know,” and “Do You Hear What I Hear.”

The East Central Community College Workforce Development Center will offer the following courses during the months of November and December at locations throughout the college district.
Louisville
Welding: Begins Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at the Louisville/Winston County Career-Technical Center, located at 204 Ivy Ave. The class will meet from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for three consecutive weeks. Shane McDaniel will serve as instructor. Cost is $150 per person.

East Central Community College is holding an open house for its new Forest Career Advancement Center from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 13, 2017.
Tours of the facility will be available and refreshments will be served.

The East Central Community College basketball teams are prepared to hit the hardwood for the 2017-18 season with a mix of youth and experience, and with expectations to be playing in the postseason come late February.
The Lady Warriors and Warriors open their 23-game seasons Thursday, Nov. 2, at home against Coahoma Community College. The women will tip off at 5:30 p.m. and the men at 7:30 p.m. from Brackeen-Wood Gym on the campus in Decatur. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for students.

The season came to an end for the East Central Community College men’s soccer team Saturday, Oct. 28, with a 3-0 loss to Pearl River Community College in the semifinals of the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges State/National Junior College Athletic Association Region 23 Tournament played at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland.
Pearl River scored three second half goals to break a scoreless halftime tie to get the win and advance to the tournament finals.
