The East Central Community College golf team claimed second place and had two golfers earn All-Tournament honors at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Fall Invitational held Oct. 16-17 at Grand Bear Golf Club in Saucier.

The East Central Community College women’s soccer team went out of conference to play the University of Mississippi women’s club team in Oxford Tuesday, Oct. 17.

The Lady Rebels came out on top with a 4-2 win over East Central.

Scoring for East Central in the match were freshman forward Kelli Vaughn of Stanhope Elmore in Millbrook, Ala., in the first half and sophomore forward Cailee Helen McClain of Starkville in the second half.

Numerous East Central Community College students were recipients of endowed and annual scholarships and were recognized during a reception held recently in the Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium on the Decatur campus.

Ashley Langham and Dylan Shoemaker have been named the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and Men’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively, for the week of Oct. 9-Oct. 15, 2017.

Scoreless for 99 minutes and 59 seconds, East Central Community College’s Ashley Langham knocked in the golden goal with one second left in the first overtime period to give the Lady Warriors a 1-0 win over Northwest Mississippi Community College Wednesday, Oct. 11.

In the men’s action, East Central got goals from three different players in a 3-2 win over Northwest.

The MACJC North Division matches were played on the Northwest campus in Senatobia.

The East Central Community College soccer teams traveled to Fulton Friday, Oct. 6, for a pair of important MACJC North Division soccer matches against Itawamba Community College, with the men’s team picking up an important win.

The Warriors scored the game winner in the 83rd minute to defeat the Indians 2-1. Sophomore defender Cory Furlow out of Clinton got the winning goal, assisted by freshman midfielder Chris Perez of Forest.
