The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) will hold training using the National Incident Management System on the East Central Community College campus in Decatur July 10-14, 2017.

MEMA Director Lee Smithson will open the weeklong training with remarks at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 10, in Thrash Auditorium in Newton Hall on the ECCC campus. The public is invited to hear Smithson’s opening comments.

The East Central Community College Workforce Development Center will offer a Certified Nurse Aide class at the Louisville Career Advancement Center beginning Tuesday, July 18, 2017.

The class will meet from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays for eight consecutive weeks. Cost is $766 per person and includes everything but the TB Skin Test. The instructor is Alan Krajewski. The WorkKeys test will be given and you must score a Silver level to attend this class.

East Central Community College in Decatur was recently awarded a $50,000 grant from the Women’s Foundation of Mississippi (WFM) for implementation of a Women's Emergency Assistance Fund that will provide emergency funds for transportation or auto repairs, childcare, medical expenses, and other temporary financial needs to help women stay in school.

May 2017 East Central Community College graduates Emily Dykeman (right) of Forest and Makenzie Byrd of Sebastopol were recently selected to participate in the undergraduate portion of the Mississippi Rural Physicians Scholarship Program (MRPSP).

Jeffery Sorey of Huntington, Texas,  is the new assistant band director at East Central Community College in Decatur and will assume his new duties on July 1, 2017.
