East Central Community College Board of Trustee member David Byars of Philadelphia (left) was recently honored for 20 years of service to the college’s board. He was presented a plaque by ECCC President Dr. Brent Gregory. Byars is retired owner of Byars Furniture.

The East Central Community College golf team had a strong showing in the first tournament of 2022 as the Warriors carded a 609 at Shiloh Ridge in Corinth Sept. 12-13. The score landed the Warriors a 4th place finish in the 11-team field.

The No. 13 ranked East Central Community College Lady Warriors fell to the South Georgia State College Lady Hawks on Monday, Sept. 12, as the teams met at the Folmar Soccer Complex in Montgomery, Ala. The 2-1 loss to the NJCAA DI program drops the Lady Warriors to 3-1 on the year, while the Lady Hawks improve to 3-1.

East Central Community College in Decatur is participating in the National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week Sept. 18-24.

Sponsored by the National Coalition for Literacy, AEFL Week raises public awareness about the need for and value of adult education and family literacy. The goal is to increase financial and societal support for access to basic education programs for U.S. for adults with low literacy, numeracy, and digital skills.

The newly ranked No. 13 ECCC Lady Warrior soccer team flexed their muscles on Wednesday night, Sept. 7, as the team downed the Mississippi Gulf Coast Lady Bulldogs, 2-1. The win kept the Lady Warriors record perfect as the team moved to 3-0, while the Lady Bulldogs fell to 1-2.
