The East Central Community College Board of Trustees this week approved the college’s 2020-2021 budget plan aimed at offsetting a more than $550,000 reduction in state appropriations for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins July 1.

The budget plan, which includes expenditure reductions and revenue increases, was approved at the board’s June meeting held by conference call on June 9.

East Central Community College in Decatur is offering several online classes during its July 2020 Term set to begin July 6. The last day to register for a course is July 7.

The July Term will be online classes only, similar to the college’s Maymester and June 2020 Term courses. Face-to-face on-campus courses will resume with the Fall 2020 Term that begins Aug. 17.

East Central Community College in Decatur is making plans to reopen its campus to students and resume in-person, on-campus classes beginning with the fall 2020 semester.

East Central Community College’s Ali Grace Walker today was named the nation’s Most Improved JUCO Sophomore Women’s Tennis Player by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

The announcement was made during the ITA’s virtual awards ceremony on Friday, May 29.

Ed Girling, who retired as director of bands at East Central Community College following the spring 2020 semester, was named 2020 Alumnus of the Year by the Delta State University Department of Music.

A familiar face will lead the East Central Community College Wall O’ Sound band program next year as Zach Langley takes over as Director of Bands for the retiring Ed Girling who has led the program for the past seven years.

Although their seasons were cut short due to the Coronavirus, the East Central Community College men’s and women’s tennis teams both are included in the final Oracle/ITA JUCO Top 25 polls.

The ECCC men are ranked No. 20 in the most recent poll and third among Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges men’s teams.
