October 1, 2019

The East Central Lady Warriors defeated Southwest 4-0 Tuesday, Oct. 1, in a non-division soccer match in Summit to complete a season road sweep over the Lady Bears.

East Central also beat Southwest 5-0 in Summit back on Aug. 30.

With the win, the East Central Lady Warriors are now 6-4-1 on the season, while the Lady Bears fall to 0-9-1.

East Central Community College men’s and women’s tennis players combined to win 22 matches over a three-day period while competing individually in the ITA Southern Regionals Sept. 26-28 at the Northeast Park Tennis Center in Meridian.

East Central sophomore Chris Lawrance (York, Western Australia) made it to the Singles Finals, while Lawrance and doubles partner sophomore Isaac Santitto (Innisfail, Queensland, Australia) advanced to the Doubles Finals.

The Jones College Bobcats grabbed a 5-0 win over the East Central Warriors in the opening match of the evening, and the Lady Bobcats followed with a 2-1 win over the East Central Lady Warriors in MACJC non-division soccer action Friday night, Sept. 27, at Bailey Stadium on the ECCC campus in Decatur.

The East Central men were held scoreless for the fourth straight match to fall to 3-8 on the season. The Jones Bobcats are 6-4.

The East Central Community College Astronomy Club will hold a public viewing and information session in observance of worldwide Astronomy Day 2019 on Saturday, Oct. 5.

The free come-and-go event which is open to the public will be held from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the front lawn of campus on West Broad Street in Decatur.

East Central Community College in Decatur is offering a new Four-Week Online Term starting in October where students can complete one or two classes in just 30 days.

The term begins on Monday, Oct. 21, and the last day to register for classes is Tuesday, Oct. 22.

Classes being offered include College Study Skills LLS 1423 and Introduction to Sociology SOC 2113.
