In anticipation of its 2017 home football opener Sept. 14, East Central Community College is announcing several changes in an effort to provide a safer and more enjoyable game-day experience for Warrior fans.

The Holmes Community College Bulldogs opened a 21-0 halftime lead en route to a 49-14 win over the East Central Community College Warriors in the season opener for both schools Thursday, Aug. 31.

The East Central Community College Warriors open the regular season on the road Aug. 31 looking to make the state playoffs for the third straight year. Something that’s never been done on the Decatur campus.

East Central Community College will start a new tradition in fall 2017 as its annual Homecoming Celebration will move from Saturday to Thursday for the first time in many years.
Homecoming 2017 at ECCC in Decatur is set for Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017. The day will conclude with the annual Homecoming football game with the ECCC Warriors hosting the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers at 6:30 p.m. in Bailey Stadium.
Because of expected inclement weather, the Warrior Elite Football Camp scheduled for Monday, June 5, has been postponed until Wednesday, June 7.

For the second straight year, East Central Community College head football coach Ken Karcher is the Mississippi Association of Coaches Community College Football Coach of the Year for the 2016 season.
Karcher will share the honor with Holmes Community College football coach Jeff Koonz.
