East Central Football Falls at No. 5 Northwest in Non-Division Action

East Central Community College’s fourth quarter comeback fell short as the Warriors lost a tough 20-14 football game to No. 5 nationally ranked and defending national champion Northwest Mississippi Community College Thursday, Oct. 20, in Senatobia.

The Warriors trailed 20-0 at the half, but the defense held the Rangers scoreless the second half putting East Central in a position for a comeback.

East Central Men’s Soccer Falls to Hinds in Regular Season Finale

The East Central Community College men’s soccer team fell to Hinds Community College 6-0 in MACJC North Division action Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the Soccer Complex on the Decatur campus.

The Warriors were not able to score in their final regular season game against the Eagles.

The ECCC men’s soccer team finished second in the division and will host Southwest Mississippi Community College in the first round of the playoffs in Bailey Stadium in Decatur on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 7:00 p.m. 

ECCC Women’s Soccer Concludes Regular Season with 6-0 Win

The East Central Community College women’s soccer team finished regular season play on a high note with a 6-0 win over Hinds Community College Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the Soccer Complex on the Decatur campus.

Sophomore Kenzie Jenkins of McLaurin High School began the scoring for ECCC off an assist by TaNissa McNair of Forest High School.

Defender Gabby Gross of Lewisburg High School added another first half score for East Central.

ECCC Golf Team Competes in MACJC Conference Event No. 4

The East Central Community College golf team traveled to Saucier Oct. 17-18 to compete in the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges Event No. 4 and district preview of the fall season, hosted by Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

East Central finished in 16th place in the competition, posting a team score of 647 over the 36-hole event.

East Central’s Malik Davis Earns MACJC Football Honors

East Central Community College sophomore defensive back Torran “Malik” Davis has been named the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges Football Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Hinds Community College Saturday, Oct. 15.

Davis, a product of Red Bank (Tenn.) High School, had eight tackles and two key interceptions, including one he returned 23 yards for a touchdown.

The East Central football team is 4-3 on the season and 4-1 in the MACJC South Division. 

East Central Men’s Soccer Extends Winning Streak With Victory Over Holmes

With a 2-1 win over Holmes Community College in Ridgeland Friday, Oct. 14, the East Central Community College men’s soccer team won its sixth straight match.

Scoring for the Warriors were Blake Bonds, a produce of Germantown High School, assisted by Fredy Gutierrez of Pontotoc High School, and Jacob Thomas our of Northwest Rankin High School, assisted by Tanner Lindsey, also a product of Northwest Rankin.

The win improved ECCC to 9-6 on the season and 5-2 in the North Division.

ECCC Women’s Soccer Falls to Holmes

The East Central Community College women’s soccer team fell 1-0 on the road against Holmes Community College Friday, Oct. 14, in Ridgeland.

The loss dropped ECCC to 11-3 on the season and 5-2 in the MACJC North Division.

East Central and Holmes remained scoreless during the first half, but the Lady Bulldogs were able to score two minutes into the second half for the only goal they would need.

ECCC Football Defeats Hinds 45-14 on Homecoming 2016--Recap

The East Central Community College football team took advantage of six Hinds Community College turnovers to win a big MACJC South Division matchup 45-14 on homecoming in Bailey Stadium in Decatur Saturday, Oct. 15.

The victory over the Eagles improved the Warriors to 4-3 on the season and 4-1 in the South Division to remain at the top spot of the South.
