No. 17 East Central Community College Warriors scored eight early runs in the opener and held on for a 12-6 win before losing a heartbreaking 1-0 second game in a baseball doubleheader split with No. 9 Jones County Junior College, Tuesday, March 27, at Community Bank Park in Ellisville.

With the split, East Central is 18-6 overall on the season and 7-1 in MACJC play, which puts the Warriors in second place in the league. The Jones County Bobcats are 18-6 and 5-3.

East Central Community College sophomore infielder/outfielder Wyatt Ball has been named the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges Baseball Player of the Week for March 19-25.

East Central Community College is currently offering Basic Computer classes at the Forest WIN Job Center Monday through Wednesday each week from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Classes offered include Keyboarding Skills, Resume Writing, Navigating the Internet for a Job Search, Online Application, and Basic Microsoft Office.

Classes are free for those who qualify.

The Forest WIN Job Center is located at 536 Deerfield Drive, Forest, Miss.

ECCC to Hold Tryout for Men’s Basketball Team

The East Central Community College men’s basketball team will hold a tryout from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, in Brackeen-Wood Gym on the campus in Decatur.

The tryout is open to players who will graduate from high school in 2018, or have already graduated but have not already played two years of college sports.

The cost is $25 per person, and players should bring their own basketball shoes.
