The East Central Community College football team took advantage of six Hinds Community College turnovers to win a big MACJC South Division matchup 45-14 on homecoming in Bailey Stadium in Decatur Saturday, Oct. 15.

The victory over the Eagles improved the Warriors to 4-3 on the season and 4-1 in the South Division to remain at the top spot of the South.

Lake Attendance Center fifth graders and eighth graders were on the campus of East Central Community College recently touring the science department’s labs. After a brief welcome by ECCC President Dr. Billy Stewart, the students were separated into small groups and participated in various lab activities.

The East Central Community College men’s soccer team beat Northwest Mississippi Community College 3-1 Friday, Oct. 7, for its fifth straight win.

Sophomore midfielder Fredy Gutierrez of Pontotoc High School scored off an assist by John Jimenez of Oruo, Bolivia, to begin the scoring for the Warriors in the first half.

In the second half, defender Gage Leifried of Southeast Lauderdale High School scored his first goal of the season off an assist by Gutierrez. Then Gutierrez drove in a penalty kick to give East Central a 3-0 lead.

The East Central Community College women’s soccer team moved to 11-2 on the season and 5-1 in the North Division with an 8-0 victory over the Northwest Mississippi Community College Lady Rangers Friday, Oct. 7, at the ECCC Soccer Complex.

Sophomore forward Kenzie Jenkins of McLaurin High School began the scoring for East Central in the first half, with an assist by TaNissa McNair of Forest High School.

The East Central Community College football team took over sole possession of first place in the MACJC South Division after beating nationally ranked No. 8 Jones County Junior County 37-24 Thursday, Oct. 6, in Bailey Stadium on the Decatur campus.

A hat trick by sophomore midfielder Fredy Gutierrez powered the East Central Community College men’s soccer team to its fourth straight win, a 4-2 MACJC North Division victory over Itawamba Community College in a match played Oct. 5 in Fulton.
