The East Central Community College men’s basketball team could not hold on to a steady lead in the fourth quarter and fell 75-64 against Northeast Mississippi Community College Thursday, Dec. 8, in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium in Decatur.
The game was high-intensity throughout the evening with the Warriors leading by eight at the intermission, before the Tigers pulled away for the win in the final minutes of the contest.

The East Central Community College women’s basketball team fell to Northeast Mississippi Community College 77-61 Thursday, Dec. 8, in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium in Decatur.
Freshman Autumn Taylor of Newton High School led ECCC scorers with 17 points. She added three assists and two steals.

Two East Central Community College women’s soccer players signed National Letters of Intent Wednesday, Dec. 7, to continue the careers at Mississippi College in Clinton.
Defender Gabby Gross, a product of Lewisburg High School, and goalkeeper Kaitlyn Knuth, a product of West Lauderdale High School, will remain teammates on the Lady Choctaw’s women’s soccer team.

East Central Community College in Decatur will close all offices for the Christmas holidays beginning Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016.
Offices will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017.
Registration for the spring 2017 semester will begin on Thursday, Jan. 5. Students can still apply to attend ECCC for the spring 2017 semester by using the online application at www.eccc.edu/admissions.
Day and evening classes for the spring semester begin Monday, Jan. 9.

The East Central Community College Warriors fell 76-62 in their South Division basketball opener in Summit Monday, Dec. 5, against the defending MACJC State Champion Southwest Mississippi Community College Bears.
With the loss, the Warriors moved to 4-3 on the season and 0-1 in the South Division. Southwest improved to 6-2 overall and 1-0 in the division. It was the fifth straight win for Southwest.

The East Central Community College women’s basketball team led most of the contest, but could not hold off a late Southwest Mississippi Community College comeback in a 74-17 loss in Summit Monday, Dec. 5.
ECCC led by 10 at the end of the third period of play, but Lady Bears outscored ECCC by 13 points in fourth to drop the Lady Warriors opening game of MACJC South Division play.

East Central Community College in Decatur has been designated as a Military Friendly® School by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs®, STEM Jobs, and Military Spouse magazines. It is the fifth consecutive year that ECCC has earned the Military Friendly® School designation.
ECCC is one of only five community colleges in Mississippi to earn the Military Friendly® designation for 2017.

Eleven members of the 2016 East Central Community College Warrior football team received postseason honors from the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges and the National Junior College Athletic Association. In addition, for the second year in a row Head Coach Ken Karcher was selected as the MACJC South Division Coach of the Year.
Four Warriors were named MACJC First Team All-State and seven were named MACJC Second Team All-State. One was included on the NJCAA All-Region 23 Team.
