The Culinary Arts Technology program at East Central Community College in Decatur was ranked No. 3 among all such programs in the state of Mississippi in a recent report by Best Choice Schools.

The rankings, published at BestChoiceSchools.com, include the top 10 best culinary programs in Mississippi that offer a variety of certificates and degrees in the culinary arts and related fields, a variety of coursework, a low student-to-faculty ratio, a professional work setting, and internship opportunities.

January 5, 2016

The East Central Community College women’s basketball team will host rival Meridian Community College Thursday, Jan. 12, at 5:30 p.m. in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium.

All who attend the game will be admitted for just $1.

The match-up is the first home game of 2017 after the team’s holiday break.

There will not be a men’s contest to follow the women’s game.

The Lady Warriors enter 2017 play 5-4 on the season.

The East Central Community College Workforce Development Center will offer a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) course beginning January 23 on the Decatur campus.

Classes will meet from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday for six consecutive weeks with clinical dates and times to be announced. Cost is $766 per person and includes everything except the TB Skin Test.

Theresa Cole and Christy Wilson will serve as instructors.

The East Central Community College Workforce Development Center will offer courses in welding and Pharmacy Tech beginning this month in Winston County.

• Welding–Begins Monday, January 9, and will meet from 3 to 9 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays for two consecutive weeks. Cost is $150 per person. Instruction will include GMAW, FCAW and MCAW processes. Shane McDaniel will serve as instructor.

The East Central Community College Workforce Development Center will offer numerous classes this month at various locations throughout Neshoba County.

Courses offered at the Integrated Technologies Training Center in Choctaw include:

• AC/DC Electrical Controls–Begins Monday, January 9, and will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. for 11 consecutive Mondays. Cost is $150 per person. Robert Kilpatrick will serve as instructor.

Registration activities are scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, for new and transfer students planning to attend spring classes at East Central Community College in Decatur.

Registration will be open from 8 a.m. to Noon.

The East Central Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams both fell to Shelton State Community College Monday, Dec. 12, in Tuscaloosa.

The Lady Warriors had three players in double-digit scoring in a 111-62 loss to the No. 4 nationally ranked Lady Buccaneers. Freshman Autumn Taylor of Newton High School led ECCC scorers with 20 points and seven rebounds. Curtisha Coleman of Wayne County High School was not far behind with 18 points, and Shantavis Hughes of Hattiesburg High School added 13 points.

East Central Community College in Decatur will close all offices for the Christmas holidays beginning Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016.

Offices will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017.

Registration for the spring 2017 semester will begin on Thursday, Jan. 5. Students can still apply to attend ECCC for the spring 2017 semester by using the online application at www.eccc.edu/admissions.

Day and evening classes for the spring semester begin Monday, Jan. 9.
