A grant from the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation is boosting East Central Community College’s efforts to create and sustain a culture of wellness on its campuses with a $127,500 grant to support the college’s new Warrior Wellness initiative.

The 2016-17 editions of the East Central Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams will be on display at the annual “Haunted House of Hoops” scheduled for Monday, Oct. 31. Activities begin at 7 p.m. in the Brackeen-Wood Physical Education Building on the Decatur campus.
The East Central Community College Workforce Development Center will offer a Basic Automotive Repair course at the Philadelphia/Neshoba County Career-Technical Center beginning Tuesday, Oct. 25.
The class will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. for eight consecutive Tuesdays.
Cost to attend is $150 per person. Kirt Doss will serve as instructor.

The East Central Community College Workforce Development Center will offer a Certified Nurse Aide course at the Louisville Career Advancement Center beginning Tuesday, Oct. 25.
The class will meet from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays for eight consecutive weeks.
Cost to attend is $776 per person, which includes all materials except the TB Skin Test. The WorkKeys test will be given and participants must score a Silver level to attend this class. Alan Krajewski will serve as instructor.

Director of Bands Ed Girling of Carthage is East Central Community College’s “Humanities Instructor of the Year” and will be recognized Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, on the Decatur campus.
Girling will present a special program, held in conjunction with Arts and Humanities Month, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Vickers Fine Arts Center auditorium.

The East Central Community College football team took advantage of six Hinds Community College turnovers to win a big MACJC South Division matchup 45-14 on homecoming in Bailey Stadium in Decatur Saturday, Oct. 15.
The victory over the Eagles improved the Warriors to 4-3 on the season and 4-1 in the South Division to remain at the top spot of the South.
